More information about the course:

English for Business Start-Ups and Entrepreneurs is a 10-week course of 30 hours in total specially designed to develop essential business communication skills in English

  • It is ideal for people who:
    • are thinking of starting their own business in Ireland
    • are already running a business
    • want to increase their career prospects
       
  • Teaching methodology used:

    Interactive teaching approach focusing on communication and maximising students’ participation.  Students will be encouraged to actively take part in class discussion, business role-plays, essential grammar activities etc.
  • Course Objectives:

    To equip students with the necessary skills to communicate confidently in the business environment

    Students will be able to:

    • manage telephone calls, take part in meetings, negotiate, use English for customer service, make arrangements.
    • do basic research related to their business, service or product.
    • make a convincing business presentation, product or service presentation; present their profile.
    • construct and write a business plan.
    • communicate confidently with state bodies and financial institutions (vocabulary related to banking and finance).
    • deal with case studies (realistic business problems and situations analysis).
    • read and understand business related media articles, e.g. The Economist, The Financial Times, The Irish Times.
    • familiarise with Irish media and business customs in Ireland.
    • handle figures, describe graphs and trends (vocabulary on graphs etc.) 
    • write CVs, business letters, reports, summaries, e-mails etc.
    • familiarise with elements of marketing; design and write promotional literature (brochure, leaflet, flyer etc.)

  • Important ! If you are not sure of your English level, we strongly advise you to do our online test and / or carefully read and analyse the levels description chart.  If you prefer to have your English tested at our school together with a short oral test, please contact us.
  • BEC Higher  (Business English Certificate) exam preparation course is available on Fridays at 17.30 – 20.00.
  • General Business English course is available on Fridays at 17.30 – 20.00.
